The City of Union City joins neighboring communities in mourning the loss of Lynn Town Marshal Brad Fisher, who died Wednesday morning in the line of duty during a police pursuit in Randolph County. Local officials are also preparing for a solemn procession today as Marshal Fisher is escorted to a Union City funeral home.

According to the Indiana State Police, the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. when a Randolph County sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a stolen vehicle driven by a suspect with active felony warrants. The driver fled, leading officers on a pursuit along U.S. 36 toward Lynn.

Marshal Fisher, a 27-year veteran of the Lynn Police Department, positioned himself near the intersection of U.S. 27 and U.S. 36 to deploy tire-deflation devices in an effort to safely stop the vehicle. During this effort, the suspect’s vehicle veered toward him, striking him. The pursuit ended shortly afterward when the vehicle crashed into a dump truck.

Marshal Fisher was transported to Ascension St. Vincent Randolph Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The suspect was taken into custody and remains in jail, with additional charges expected following the ongoing investigation.

Known for his deep commitment to public service, Marshal Fisher served not only as town marshal, but also as fire captain, street department leader, and a community volunteer. Residents describe him as a dedicated public servant who consistently went above and beyond to help others. His impact is felt across Lynn and the surrounding region.

Today, Union City will play a role in honoring his service. At approximately 10:00 a.m., a law enforcement procession will depart the Delaware County Morgue and travel to Reichard Funeral Home in Union City. The procession is expected to arrive around 11:00 a.m., though timing may vary.
