Union City is proud to recognize Firefighter Cammie Johns for her outstanding performance at the Firefighter Challenge Championship Series held last week in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Earlier this summer in Minneapolis, Cammie gave an inspiring effort but was unable to complete the course. Determined to return stronger, she did just that. In Erie, she not only completed the course—twice—but also cut 45 seconds off her qualifying time. Her final run of 5:31 earned her second place in her division and a spot at the upcoming U.S. National Championship in Oklahoma City, scheduled for September 24–27.
Relay Success and World Record Achievement
Cammie also excelled in the relay events.
All-Female Under 40 Relay: Competing with her team, The Fierce Five, they set a new world record in the qualifying round with an impressive time of 2:49.32. While a small mishap in the finals kept them from the top spot, the team proudly secured second place overall.
Coed Relay: Cammie and her teammates battled hard and earned a strong third place finish.
A Community Proud
Cammie’s perseverance, strength, and determination continue to inspire both her fellow firefighters and the entire Union City community. We congratulate her on these remarkable achievements and look forward to cheering her on as she represents our city at the national level in Oklahoma City next month.
